The Warkworth Wine Academy objectives:
To share a passion for wine and its mysteries. Our infectious love for the nectar of the gods will enriched your experience in the enjoyment and appreciation of wine, entering a fascinating world nurturing all the senses.
To educate in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere about all aspects of wine production, wine areas and wines types from New Zealand and around the world.
To train new and experienced workers in the hospitality industry. The teaching is in a casual and small class environment giving solid, basic knowledge and the skills to propel the participants to the front of the queue for employment, particularly as there is a desperate need for staff in restaurants, cafés, vineyards, pubs & hotels in New Zealand.

About our founder:
Daniel Millaire is the founder and senior tutor/lecturer at the Warkworth Wine Academy. He has been a teacher, lecturer, writer and radio personality on his favourite subject "wine appreciation". Having over 40 years international experience in the hospitality industry, Daniel has gained immense experience and Industry knowledge. His experience ranges from food waiter to Maître d'hotel, to restaurant manager to resort and hotel manager to restaurant owner/operator.
His great skills as a teacher and trainer have been highlighted when he taught food and wine service, the bar course and diploma courses at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) and also for private institutions.
In the last eight years, Daniel has focused primarily on his passion - wine. He managed the Glengarry wine store in Remuera, Auckland for two years as well as re-designing and teaching their wine courses for the NZ Wine Academy.
Today he works part-time at the Matakana Estate Cellar Door and presents wine talks for them.
He is the owner/operator of the beautiful and stylish Dangela Boutique Lodge in Warkworth (www.dangela.co.nz).
